The
inauguration ceremony of the first Travelling University program supported by
GIZ SME program in Sri Lanka employing Sri Lankan students from five national
universities was held on 9th October, 2014 at the GIZ - Sri Lanka headquarter in
Colombo 5. The ceremony was started with a traditional touch by lighting the
oil lamp. Prof. Ranjith Senarathne, the Vice Chairman of the University Grants
Commission of Sri Lanka, Mr. German Muller, Senior Advisor, GIZ-SME Development,
Prof. Rahula Attalage, Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Moratuwa, Dr
Michael Knaus, Head of the International Operations of IfaS, and Namal
Ranaweera, Undergraduate, Uva Wellassa University addressed the gathering. Concluding
the inauguration, TU was set in motion and reached
its first stop in Kuliyapitiya at Serendipol (PVT) Ltd. to examine its
material and energy consumption patterns.
